We have recently submitted a planning application for the major refurbishment and alterations to a bungalow. The building has been extended over the years, but in a piecemeal fashion; resulting in a cumbersome internal arrangement. Our proposals rationalise the layout and provide a new first floor within a larger roof space.
Alongside expected rooms, the dwelling will contain a new first floor bedroom with his and hers walk in wardrobes and en-suites, a cinema room, hobby room and home office. The brief requested that the front elevation be understated, but with the garden elevation offering architectural excitement. The journey through the building takes you from a comparatively narrow entrance hallway to widening internal spaces both in plan and elevation, before arriving in a large living/ dining/ kitchen with double height space and a gallery bedroom over.
Proposals will also improve the energy efficiency of the building; being clad in insulated render and with all new elements seeking to exceed the performance requirements of the current Building Regulations.
