Bournemouth University has taken handover of a 108 student laboratory as part of a second-floor refurbishment at Christchurch House on the Talbot Campus carried out by Greendale Construction Ltd.

Studio Four Architects Ltd are delighted to have been involved in this venture having designed the proposal for the University from feasibility to completion, together with Gleeds Project Management, TNG Consulting Engineers Ltd, and Scott White and Hookins LLP structural engineers.

The works involved the creation of one large teaching laboratory, a movable dividing wall can segregate the space into two smaller teaching rooms, each housing 54 students. Alongside these main labs, we have provided a staff preparation room, as well as a Cell Culture Research Laboratory and two locker rooms to facilitate the main teaching spaces.

Each island bench is served with an audio-visual display screen so that the lecturer can demonstrate a practical task from a demonstration bench at the far end of each room.

Studio Four is currently developing phase two of the works, alongside the university faculty teams, with a likely start on site next year.
