We had a bitter-sweet party at the Chilworth Manor Hotel on Saturday night.

The Lord Selborne suite hosted Studio Four staff, partners and guests for our Christmas Party. Julie Staunton organised the excellent event, including a tricky “architects in film” quiz with a (slightly) easier word search and “complete the Christmas carol” for the non-film buffs! Two tables couldn’t resist coming up with their own carol lyrics and performing them for the rest to cringe at.

Paloma Rodriguez was presented with her bottle of bubbly for winning this year’s Christmas Card Competition (more on that in other posts), and it was good to see Julian Le Good there with her.

On a sadder note, George Rankin announced this would be his and Laurna’s last attendance at a Studio Four event. Although he and Nick Lockyer “retired” two years ago, they’ve been carrying on as consultants to the practice and George has continued to keep in touch with Studio Four staff as well as his many Healthcare contacts. As proud grandparents and keen gardeners, George and Laurna now have plenty to keep them busy, so with great affection they were presented with a Hillier voucher, a Farewell card from all the staff and, not least, a grateful client’s  bottle of sherry  that George put in the Romsey conference room cupboard at Christmas in 1993!

Just to prove they’re in fine fettle, George and Laurna were first onto the dance floor and discoed the night away, surrounded by all the Studio Four staff who owe their careers to George’s first solo steps 22 years ago at 4, Tollgate Estates. We wish them both all the best.
