Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust commissioned Studio Four Architects, in conjunction with TNG Consulting Engineers Ltd and Currie & Brown to ensure the fire alarm system and fire compartmentation at Romsey Hospital complied with current legislation.
It was recognised that there were building components, fire doors, signage, emergency lighting, fire alarm systems and compartmentation that required attention within this 1930s building.
Coloured laminate fire doors from Advanced Timber Systems UK were installed along all existing compartment lines. Additionally, the new doors aided wayfinding throughout the hospital, and complied with dementia guidelines within both male and female wards.
Ensuring the correct measures are in place to prevent the spread of fire at our local hospital in Romsey, was a gratifying project with a great team.
