Our Southampton office has recently obtained full planning consent for two bold, modern residential schemes in waterfront locations.
The first of these, in Brixham, is situated on a cliff top location with panoramic views across Torbay. Set amidst large Victorian villas, are has been taken to design a modern building that exploits the exceptional views, whilst using a palette of local materials and building form to help integrate the development into the local environment. The scheme includes a large glazed living room and lookout which makes the most of the panoramic views. The house is a split-level design and provides the client with a large 5 bedroom house. Work is expected to start on site in early 2014.
In Netley, the practice has designed a pair of houses on adjacent plots with consent now granted for the first. These both sit on an exceptional site overlooking Southampton Water with the New Forest beyond; the house is designed around a 3 storey central glazed staircase, with four distinctive elements, forming the habitable spaces of the house. Each element of the building has been designed with simple facades and a projecting flat roof, with double height glazing and rendered walls.
