Mike is a RIBA-registered architect and a Founding Director of the practice, based in our Winchester office. His career has included a full range of project types including healthcare, education, residential, leisure, private housing, emergency services and commercial developments. The wide range of experience and contacts he has built up since starting work in the mid-80s allows him to provide knowledgeable advice on many different sectors and procurement types, as well as putting together suitable teams to deliver successful project outcomes. He lectures regularly at Southampton Solent University and is a RIBA Part 3 examiner at Portsmouth University. He is fluent in Italian and French, and enjoys arranging our karting challenge days in the summer and skiing in the Dolomites in the winter.

Gareth is a RIBA-registered architect and Director at our Romsey Office. He joined Studio Four in 1996 after graduating from Cardiff University. Gareth's wide project experience includes primary healthcare, ecclesiastical and residential schemes at conceptual and detailed level. He looks after the Practice’s QMS system, and when not doing all of the above loves playing his bass guitar.

Philip joined Studio Four in 2002, became an Associate Director in 2007 and was made a full Director in 2011. He is a MCIAT-qualified senior technologist and has acted as lead consultant for a variety of projects ranging from new build and works of alteration to hospitals, large offices, research and development laboratories and other commercial buildings. In 2013 Phil became a member of the association of Project Managers. In his spare time he likes to kayak on the River Itchen.

Steve is a Director based in our Winchester office and an experienced RIBA-registered architect with a broad portfolio of Studio Four projects since 2002, including new GP surgeries, major alterations to leisure centres and numerous education projects. He is our key contact for the RNLI, having completed lifeboat stations at Llandudno, Selsey, Hayling Island and Cowes and now working on numerous others. Steve is a keen runner, karter, Saints fan and enjoys family skiing and camping trips.

Stuart is a MCIAT-qualified senior technologist with over 16 years’ experience in the Construction Industry, initially working for a Civil Engineering Company before joining Studio Four in November 2004. Through the practice he obtained an HNC and a BA Hons Degree in Architectural Technology, and also his PRINCE2 Project Manager qualification. He has worked on a wide variety of projects including extensions and refurbishment works for Highbury College, numerous schemes for Kenwood Delonghi, Healthcare projects in Basingstoke and Portsmouth and also small scale domestic alterations for local authorities, undertaking the lead design role in many instances. Stuart was promoted to Associate in January 2015.

Claire originally joined Studio Four in 2005 as a summer student. She was one of the top designers in her year and her design work has been published and commended in many instances. Claire re-joined the practice in 2011 and became a RIBA-registered Architect in 2014, an Associate in 2016 and an Associate Director in 2022. Claire’s work is almost entirely focused on Residential and Agricultural diversification projects, primarily located within the South Downs National Park, where she has built up a diverse portfolio of work over recent years. Claire was the Project Architect for Rushmore Farm which won the RICS South East Residential Project of the year in 2016, as well as Gambledown Farm which was shortlisted for two RICS Awards in 2019. In her spare time she enjoys travelling, renovating her house, skiing, riding her motorbike and spending time with her daughter and two dogs.

Thelma started with the Practice as an Office Junior in 1995. In 1997, she moved to Winchester to help set up our new office, becoming Office Manager. After 10 years, Thelma returned to Romsey and was promoted to Practice Manager where her main responsibilities are admin, finance and HR. From January 2022, she was promoted to Associate Director. Away from work, she enjoys spending time with her family and socialising with friends.

Paul joined Studio Four in 2006 as a part 2 graduate and went on to qualify as an Architect, gaining his Masters Degree in 2011 and qualifying as a RIBA-registered architect. Most recently Paul has been the project architect for the Smile Support and Care Project; a new £3.2m building that provides a hotel for families and their children with complex learning difficulties. Paul became an Associate in January 2017.

Jez has been a registered architect since 2011, joined Studio Four in early 2015 and was made an Associate in 2022. His experience is varied from industrial units to college buildings, car showrooms to church extensions. He mainly works on residential properties at the moment, which also varies from extensions to new-build apartment blocks. Outside the office he is a part of the Portsmouth roller derby leagues - as referee for the women's team and player for the men's team. As a child he played with Lego a lot (which might explain pursuing a career in architecture) and even today probably owns more Lego than a grown man should.

Rhiannon joined Studio Four in 2016 having been a registered architect since 2006 and was made an Associate in 2022. Her architectural experience stretches across both public and private sectors but has predominantly been in education, healthcare and defence. She enjoys developing working relationships with clients, users and colleagues from various professional backgrounds. Her excellent interpersonal skills allow her to manage expectations and respond to concerns and queries in a manner that is supportive and inspires confidence, gaining project ‘buy in’ whilst remaining within the briefed scope of works, programme and budget restrictions. Rhiannon recently embarked on several residential secondment visits to the Falkland Islands, as a technical representative advisor carrying out site inspections and resolving issues, supporting a number of defence and community projects in the islands. During 2022, when not at work, she can be found racking up miles towards a virtual Trans-Europe walking challenge and enjoying aerial yoga classes

David has recently completed his Part 3 course and is now a fully qualified Architect. Alongside his Masters he spent time gaining experience working for a Theatre specialist. This included a number of projects ranging from renovating historic theatres to creating large scale music venues, which in turn heavily influenced the direction of his thesis and design work throughout his Part 2 studies. Interests include movies, playing music and drawing portraits badly.

Alex joined the Romsey Office in January 2019, and has been working primarily within the healthcare team. Alex has developed a strong understanding of delivering projects at a wide range of sizes, in particular from RIBA stages three to six. During his time at Studio Four, Alex has completed his Part Three studies to become a fully qualified Architect. This qualification has allowed him to bolster his strong practical design skills with the ability to lead and administer projects on a day-to-day basis. Ever since his qualification, Alex has acted as the Project Architect, taking schemes up to handover.

Kurt returned to Studio Four in 2008 after a brief spell at another practice. He has lead several different projects, including domestic and commercial work, although he now works primarily on Acute and Primary Healthcare.Kurt is a very competent ACIAT registered technologist whom has worked on such schemes as the Emergency Department at Southampton General Hospital, the Kite Unit at the Western Community Hospital, and other various smaller projects for Solent NHS Trust.He is also achieving first class marks as he works towards a Garden design Level 4 Qualification. In his spare time, Kurt enjoys riding motorbikes, practicing martial arts and endless DIY.

Mike joined Studio Four in 2001, returning to architecture after project-managing jobs for Tesco and W H Smith. As a Senior Technician Mike has specialised in healthcare and education work, from Portsmouth to Bournemouth and the Isle of Wight, more notably in the £6.2m DOHaD project for the University of Southampton. Technically complex projects for Southampton General Hospital has been undertaken using BIM-based Revit software and he is responsible for the Activity DataBase (ADB) resource for all healthcare projects. Mike also is one of the office photographers to record completed projects for marketing.

Craig has an HND & Degree in Construction along with over 20 years` experience working on multi-million pound leisure centres, he also has a wealth of experience working on offices, schools, health centres and shopping centres. He has excellent knowledge of Revit, Photoshop & AutoCAD to produce 2D detailed drawings & 3D architectural models and generates architectural rendered images, and 3D prints from them. In his spare time he enjoys DIY and is an active member of a New Forest running club and enjoys Ceroc dancing.

Having finished her RIBA Part 1 course in 2011, Lauren completed her first year out at Hampshire County Council in their Historic Buildings and Conservation department. Following further experience of residential projects at a small architectural practice, she joined Studio Four in May 2016 and obtained her MSc in Historic Building Conservation in April 2017, giving her particular expertise and specialist knowledge in the heritage field. She is currently completing her RIBA Part 2 part-time at the University of Portsmouth whilst working on numerous projects with a focus on heritage and conservation, from small scale conversions to very larger scale development projects. Lauren is a mum of twins so is well practiced at multi-tasking! Though she doesn’t have a lot of free time she also enjoys reading and socialising with friends.

Having completed my BA (Hons) Architectural Design and Technology at Solent University graduating with a First-Class Honours in 2021; I am working towards gaining on the job experience to achieve an accreditation of MCIAT.In summer 2019 I completed a work experience placement in the Southampton office and return as a full time Studio Four employee in 2021.I have a formal qualification in landscape design and construction. Being a practical person and a natural problem solver I’m able to visualise how things work and enjoy creating, making, and mending. In my spare time I enjoy outdoor pursuits including climbing both indoors and out on the rock, mountain biking, hiking, camping, skiing, and landscape photography.

Lauren is a mum of twins and a keen runner, recently completing the Winchester Half Marathon for charity. Though she doesn’t have a lot of free time she also enjoys reading and socialising with friends.

Having completed my BA (Hons) Architectural Design and Technology at Solent University graduating with a First-Class Honours in 2021; I am working towards gaining on the job experience to achieve an accreditation of MCIAT.In summer 2019 I completed a work experience placement in the Southampton office and return as a full time Studio Four employee in 2021.I have a formal qualification in landscape design and construction. Being a practical person and a natural problem solver I’m able to visualise how things work and enjoy creating, making, and mending. In my spare time I enjoy outdoor pursuits including climbing both indoors and out on the rock, mountain biking, hiking, camping, skiing, and landscape photography.

Having graduated from University of Kent with her RIBA Part 1 qualification, Priyanka has joined our Winchester office in April 2022 to gain practical experience on her route to one day qualifying as an Architect. She is currently assisting with numerous projects including works for the RNLI and for Aster Group. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, DIY and socialising with friends.
