We have completed the second stage of a deliverability report for Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. Working with Hampshire Together – ‘Modernising our Hospitals and Health Services’, we’ve been assisting in exploring the long list of options, focusing on suitability of the existing site and assessing the likely impact of Stage 1 designs. The Programme is a ICB initiative and includes Trust properties at Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover hospitals. The options explored reflect a need to provide new modernised Hospital buildings and services and to rationalise the older buildings, all as part of the government’s New Hospital programme. Our work forms part of a larger Programme, looking at multiple options across all three hospitals as part of the New Hospital Programme, considering different ways that the existing north Basingstoke site can contribute effectively to the wider ask.
The work undertaken considered departmental relationships, overall massing, the complexities of phasing, modern space requirements and the surrounding environment. We worked very closely with the Trust, utilising 2D & 3D block modelling on a number of different options to determine how deliverable each would be within the overall modernisation programme. Our report has now been reviewed and accepted by the Hampshire Together Programme and will support Strategic Outline Business Case submission to the DH and ongoing development of proposals through to RIBA Stage 2. We eagerly await the outcome of SOC submission, will continue to support the Programme through this process and hope to continue supporting this exciting proposal.
