The courtyard infill project to create a new Senior Common Room, Lecture Room and Meeting Rooms for the University of Winchester is now complete. The lecture room was available for the start of the new academic year and the Senior Common Room was ready in time for the University staff’s Christmas party! The scheme features unique light “spikes”, designed by Studio Four, that reach up to catch low sunlight in this enclosed courtyard and transfer it to tapered prisms in the ceiling. At night, the process is reversed and LED lights illuminate the prisms and spikes with colour-changing light from within. On top of all that, the gap between spike and prism allows stale air in the room to be vented automatically.
