About the project

Studio Four were commissioned by the council to convert the property into six individual flats for vulnerable young people as well as an office and meeting room for use by council staff and residents.

One of the flats on the ground floor was built with mobility access in mind, therefore, providing ramped entrances and a disabled parking bay.

Internally all floors and partitions were to be upgraded to current acoustic standards and fitting a domestic sprinkler system throughout. Damp also had to be tackled as well as a full re-wire and plumbing installation.

Full Planning Permission was obtained for the Maltings in West Dean late 2011. The site comprises a house and 2 barns which date back to the 18th & 19th Century and are currently unused.
