About the project

Following class O approval (conversion of office to dwelling), we obtained planning permission in August 2020 for a new build dwelling on this site near Braishfield for our client. The new build is sited further into the site and provides a greater degree of separation from the access track and adjacent buildngs but utilises the same footprint as the existing structure.

 Our client was keen for the new build design to reflect the traditional agricultural form and materiality of the buildings with the farm, but the elevational treatments are a considerable update upon the existing building. The overall proposed building fabric will provide a comfortable internal environment for the user; the sizing and placement of the double glazed feature windows have been considered in order to visually break up the long elevation, whilst framing key uninterrupted views out to the surrounding landscape.  A second application was approved in December 2020 for the creation of a new build garage / store and gym on the Western side of the site.

 The site benefits from fantastic panoramic views across the countryside, yet is within easy access of Romsey and Winchester.

 This project is one example of the many class Q projects we have undertaken over recent years and any potential buyer could look to commence the scheme or seek permission for a larger dwelling and something more ambitious for the site as the principal of a residential use and a new build have already been established.
